Kissable Toes!

Not much action in the “shopfront” lately I’m afraid, I’ve been flat-out with everyday life with two kidlets and a couple of  knitting swaps, and I am just now finishing the last few orders. When I’ve had a breather I’m planning to go to the dye pots and have some fun, but it won’t be anytime soon lol! I haven’t spun anything for myself for weeks

I have a kilo of bfl (blue faced leicester) here, direct from the UK , and it’s just sooo nice to spin I might get into that some time for a few more kits… yum

In response to all the requests, I’ve created some kits to make fingerless gloves for grown-ups which change colour slowly from cuff to knuckles.  Because hey, we all need some snuggly squooshyness too!

The kits come with 50g of squooshy handspun in two matching lots, and a pattern for the mittens – the shape is like this one, but the colours will change as for the baby sock kits…

The yarn is a bulky weight, the pattern uses 5.5mm needles, and is written for both knitting in the round, or flat on two needles with a seam.

So far I’ve spun up four lots, with more in the pipeline  – and here they are:

Well, my first “shop” update is ready, yay!

There are two types of kits that I am selling in this update, socks and booties. Both are my original patterns, and come with an appropriate amount of yarn to knit them. Some of the skeins have enough length to knit any of the three sizes of socks, and some skeins have only enough for the smaller size, this is noted in the descriptions.

1. Socks – the pattern knits up like this:

Sized in 0-3 months, 6months, and 12 months.

2. Booties – here’s an example of a pair I knitted up using a silk/merino/alpaca blend:

The pattern for the booties is currently only in newborn size, 3.5inches long. They can be knitted flat with a seam at the back, or in the round. The soles can be sewn, or grafted with Kitchener stitch for seamless booties   The shaping uses simple increases and decreases.

I’ve photographed each pair of skeins with one twisted up and one spread out to show the colour progression as it will appear when knitted.

My very first Blog post! Hooray!

It’ s been a while in the pipeline, but here it is …

I love to dye and spin beautiful yarns, and through this blog I hope to showcase the special kits I create for knitted baby socks. The yarn I spin is specially designed to change colour slowly from toes to cuff, and the pattern is simple and straightforward. I use pure fine merino,  for softness and warmth – it’s such a pleasure to knit with!
